Larry Asante is a former American football safety who played for several teams over a span of four years. He was born on March 7, 1988, in Alexandria, Virginia, and attended Old Dominion University, where he played college football as a safety. As a freshman, he played in all 11 games, recording 33 tackles, two interceptions, and one touchdown. His impressive performances earned him a spot on the Colonial Athletic Association's all-rookie team. Asante continued to be an instrumental part of the team throughout his college career, earning spots on the all-conference second team twice.
Asante entered the NFL draft in 2010 and was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round (160th overall). He signed a four-year contract with the team but was released after his rookie season. He was then signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, for whom he played just one season. In 2012, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts but was waived after training camp. He then had a brief stint with the Oakland Raiders but was released during the final roster cuts in 2013. Despite his short football career, Asante remains a favorite among fans and is remembered for his intense playing style and determination on the field.
After retiring from football, Asante became an entrepreneur, starting his own business, which he runs to date. He has also worked as a motivational speaker, sharing his journey and lessons learned on and off the field with others.
