Lee Corso was born in 1935 in Lakeland, Florida. He began his football career at Florida State University, where he played quarterback for the Seminoles in the late 1950s. After college, Corso went on to coach at the high school level before becoming an assistant coach at Florida State in 1966. He then moved on to coach at Louisville and Indiana before being hired as the head coach at Northern Illinois University in 1984. Corso retired from coaching in 1986 with a record of 73-85-6.
