He was born on September 8, 1992, in Dublin, Georgia, and grew up in a family of athletes. Floyd attended Dodge County High School, where he excelled in both football and basketball. After graduating high school, Floyd chose to attend the University of Georgia, where he played for the Georgia Bulldogs. During his three years at college, he totaled 182 tackles, 26 tackles for a loss, 17 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 10 pass deflections. In 2016, Floyd was selected by the Chicago Bears with the ninth overall pick in the NFL draft. During his four seasons with the Bears, he became one of the most dominant pass rushers in the NFL. In 2020, he signed a one-year contract with the Rams and contributed to their defensive success by recording 10.5 sacks and 55 tackles in the regular season. The Rams later signed Floyd to a four-year extension worth $64 million, solidifying his position as a key player for the team.

In addition to his success on the field, Floyd is also a passionate advocate for mental health awareness. He has been vocal about his struggles with anxiety and depression, which he attributes to the pressure of playing in the NFL.
