Leonard Marshall is a former American football defensive end who played for three teams during his NFL career, including the New York Giants, the New York Jets, and the Washington Redskins. Born in 1961 in Louisiana, Marshall attended Louisiana State University where he was a standout football player. He was selected by the Giants in the second round of the 1983 NFL Draft, and quickly became a key player on their defense.
Marshall played for the Giants from 1983 to 1992, and was a part of two Super Bowl-winning teams in 1986 and 1990. During his time with the team, Marshall was a dominant player on the defensive line, recording 79 sacks and establishing himself as one of the best pass rushers in the league. He was also known for his physical style of play and his ability to disrupt opposing offenses. After leaving the Giants, Marshall played for the Jets and the Redskins for a few seasons, but retired from football in 1995.
During his career, Marshall was named to two Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro selection twice. He was also inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. Since retiring from football, Marshall has remained active in the sports world, working as a motivational speaker and hosting his own radio show. He has also been involved in charitable work and advocacy for concussion awareness, speaking out about the risks and long-term health effects of football-related head injuries.
