Leonard Smith Autographs
Leonard Smith was born on September 28, 1962, in St. Augustine, Florida. He attended Flagler College, where he excelled in football as a safety. In 1983, he was a first-team NAIA All-American and helped lead Flagler to a 10-1 record. He was then drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the first round (17th overall) of the 1983 NFL Draft.
Smith played for the Buffalo Bills from 1983 to 1989 and the Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals from 1990 to 1993. He was known for his toughness and hard-hitting style of play. He played in 135 games and recorded 26 interceptions, two touchdowns, and three sacks over his 11-year career. He was also named to the Pro Bowl in 1988 and was a two-time All-Pro (1988, 1990).
Off the field, Smith was also involved in charitable work. He started the Leonard Smith Foundation, which provided scholarships for underprivileged students in his hometown of St. Augustine. In 2011, he was inducted into the Flagler College Athletics Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, Smith passed away on December 18, 2020, at the age of 58 after a battle with cancer. His legacy as a tough and talented football player, as well as his charitable work, will continue to be remembered.
