Lou Michaels Autographs
Lou Michaels was a former American football player who was known for his successful career in the National Football League (NFL) during the 1950s, 60s, and early 70s. Michaels was born on September 28, 1935, in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, and he grew up in a family of football enthusiasts. Michaels went to the University of Kentucky, where he played football as a defensive end and ultimately garnered All-American honors in his senior year.
After graduating from college, Michaels started his professional football career with the NFL's Los Angeles Rams in 1958. He played for the Rams in his rookie season before being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1961. As a kicker and defensive lineman, Michaels proved to be an asset for the Steelers by helping them win the NFL Championship in 1961. Michaels was later traded to the Baltimore Colts, where he played from 1964 to 1971, and the Atlanta Falcons from 1971-1973, before retiring from the NFL.
Overall, Michaels' football career was nothing short of remarkable. In his 14-year-long career, he played in 201 games, scored 29 field goals, and registered 11 fumble recoveries. In addition, Michaels was known for his fantastic performance during the 1968 NFL season, where he registered 11.0 sacks and led his team to victory in Super Bowl III. Michaels was later inducted into the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he will always be remembered as one of the greatest NFL players of all time.
