Louie Kelcher Autographs
Louie Kelcher is a former American football defensive tackle who played for the San Diego Chargers and the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League. He was born on October 23, 1953, in Little Rock, Arkansas, and grew up in Cuero, Texas. Kelcher played college football for the Texas Longhorns from 1972 to 1974, where he established himself as one of the top defensive players in the Southwest Conference.
Kelcher was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the second round (32nd overall) of the 1975 NFL Draft. He played for the Chargers for nine seasons from 1975 to 1983 and established himself as one of the premier run-stoppers in the league. Kelcher was a three-time Pro Bowl selection, and he was named an All-Pro in 1980 and 1982. He helped lead the Chargers to the playoffs four times during his tenure, including an appearance in the AFC Championship Game in 1980. Kelcher finished his NFL career with a brief stint with the San Francisco 49ers in 1984.
Kelcher's dominant play on the field earned him a spot in the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame in 1988. In 1999, he was inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame, and in 2010, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Kelcher's contributions to the NFL were significant, as he helped redefine the role of the defensive tackle in modern football. Today, he is remembered as one of the most dominant defensive players of his era, and his legacy continues to inspire football players and fans across the country.
