Louis Lipps Autographs
Louis Lipps was born on August 9, 1962, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and grew up in inner-city New Orleans. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he played for the Southern Jaguars football team. He was a standout receiver in college, earning a spot on the All-American team in 1983.
Lipps was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 1984 NFL Draft. He quickly became a star for the team, earning Rookie of the Year honors after finishing the season with 45 receptions for 860 yards and nine touchdowns. He went on to have a successful career with the Steelers, playing there for eight seasons.
During his time in Pittsburgh, Lipps was a two-time Pro Bowler and was named to the All-Pro team in 1985. He finished his career with 6,018 receiving yards and 39 touchdowns. He is considered one of the best receivers in Steelers history and was inducted into the team's Hall of Honor in 2019. After retiring from football, Lipps stayed active in the sport, coaching youth teams and participating in Steelers alumni events.
