Major Wright is a former American football safety who played for multiple teams in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on July 1, 1988, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Wright played high school football at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida, where he was part of a dominant team that won multiple state championships. At Florida, Wright quickly became a standout player on the team. He played all four years for the Gators and was part of some of their most successful teams. With Wright in the lineup, the Gators won two national championships, in 2006 and 2008. Wright was named to the first-team All-SEC in both 2008 and 2009, and he was a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation's top defensive back, in 2009. Wright decided to forgo his senior year and enter the NFL draft.

In the 2010 NFL draft, Wright was selected by the Chicago Bears in the third round, 75th overall. He played for the Bears from 2010-2013, making some impactful plays during his time there. In 2013, Wright signed as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played for two seasons. His final NFL season was in 2015, where he played for the Cleveland Browns. After his NFL career, Wright went on to become a high school football coach. His playing career may have been relatively short, but his impact on the sport continues to be felt today.
