Malcolm Butler is an American football cornerback who played for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He was born on March 2, 1990, in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Butler played college football at the University of West Alabama and signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2014. In his rookie season, Butler became a hero in Super Bowl XLIX as he made one of the most memorable interceptions in NFL history to secure the Patriots' championship win over the Seattle Seahawks. Butler quickly became one of the most reliable cornerbacks in the league, as he started all 16 games in the following season and was named to the Pro Bowl.
