Marcus Freeman is a former American football linebacker who was born on January 21, 1986, in Huber Heights, Ohio. Freeman attended Wayne High School in his hometown, where he started his football journey as a standout linebacker. After an impressive high school career, he decided to continue his football journey at Ohio State University, where he played for the Buckeyes from 2004 to 2008. During his college career, Freeman amassed 238 total tackles, six sacks, and four interceptions, earning him a reputation as one of the top linebackers in the NCAA.
After graduating from Ohio State, Freeman went on to sign as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears in 2009. Though he never played a regular-season game for the Bears, Freeman signed with the Buffalo Bills later that year. He spent three seasons with the Bills, primarily playing on special teams and occasionally filling in on defense. In 2012, Freeman went on to sign with the Indianapolis Colts but sustained a season-ending injury during the preseason, which ended his NFL career. After hanging up his cleats, Freeman began his coaching career, serving as a defensive assistant at his alma mater, Ohio State, in 2010, before moving on to other coaching opportunities.
Today, Marcus Freeman is a rising star in football coaching, quickly earning national recognition for his coaching prowess. Currently, Freeman is serving as the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame, where he's already making a significant impact on the team's defensive success.
