Matt Elam Autographs
Matt Elam is an American footballer who plays in the National Football League (NFL). Elam was born on September 21, 1991, in Palm Beach, Florida. He started his football career at William T. Dwyer High School in Palm Beach Gardens, where he played as a defensive back. Elam was ranked as a five-star recruit by the Rivals.com and committed to play college football for the University of Florida.
During his college football career, Matt Elam was a standout defensive back for the Florida Gators. He played for the team between 2010 and 2012, starting 26 out of 39 games he played in. In his sophomore year, Elam earned first-team All-SEC honors, recording four interceptions and two forced fumbles. In 2013, he declared for the NFL draft and was picked in the first round, 32nd overall, by the Baltimore Ravens. During his rookie season, Elam played in all 16 games and finished with 77 tackles, one interception, and one forced fumble.
Despite a promising start to his NFL career, Matt Elam's career started to spiral downwards due to injuries and off-field issues. In 2017, Elam was arrested on drug charges and was eventually released by the Ravens. He was then signed by the New Orleans Saints but failed to make the final roster. After a two-year hiatus from football, a determined Elam participated in the Spring League in 2019, aiming to regain his form and catch the attention of NFL scouts. Unfortunately, he did not receive an NFL contract, and it seemed his football career had come to an end. As of 2021, Matt Elam has not played in the NFL since the 2016 season.
