Matt Kalil Autographs
Matt Kalil was born on July 6, 1989, in Corona, California. He is an American football offensive tackle who played college football for the University of Southern California (USC). During his college career, Kalil was an All-American and received the Morris Trophy as the conference's top offensive lineman. He was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings fourth overall in the 2012 NFL draft, following his older brother, Ryan Kalil, a Pro Bowl center for the Carolina Panthers.
In his first season with the Vikings, Matt Kalil quickly established himself as one of the best left tackles in the NFL. He played in all 16 regular-season games and was named to the Pro Bowl, the first Vikings rookie to earn a Pro Bowl nod since Randy Moss in 1998. Kalil continued his solid play for the next two seasons, starting all 16 games in each season. However, in 2015, his performance dropped, and he struggled with injuries, leading to him being placed on injured reserve.
In March 2017, Kalil signed a five-year, $55.5 million contract with the Carolina Panthers, joining his older brother, Ryan Kalil, who was already on the team. However, he struggled with injuries and inconsistent play, and the Panthers released him in March 2019. After a one-year absence from the NFL, Kalil signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans in March 2020. With his skillset and experience, Kalil will undoubtedly leave his mark as an NFL offensive tackle.
