After being drafted by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 1980 NFL draft, Matt Suhey quickly established himself as a reliable and versatile player. He was primarily a fullback but also played on special teams and as a halfback when needed. He was a crucial part of one of the best teams in NFL history, the 1985 Chicago Bears. He played in the backfield with Walter Payton, who is considered one of the greatest running backs of all time. Matt was known for his excellent blocking skills, which allowed Payton to lead the league in rushing in back-to-back seasons. He played for nine seasons in the NFL, all with the Chicago Bears, before retiring after the 1988 season.

Matt Suhey's achievements on the field were recognized with several honors, including selection to the Pro Bowl in 1985 and 1986. But what made him special was his unselfishness and team-first mentality. As a fullback, he often went unnoticed, but his contributions were vital in the team's success. After his playing days were over, Matt went on to become a successful businessman and football coach. He remained involved with football, serving as an assistant coach at his former high school and college.
