Mike Mularkey is a former American football player and coach. He was born on November 19, 1961, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mularkey played as a tight end at the University of Florida, where he was a part of the Gators team that won the Southeastern Conference (SEC) championship in 1980. After graduating from college, he was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the ninth round of the 1983 NFL draft. Following his playing career, Mularkey became an NFL coach. He began his coaching career as the tight ends coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1994. He then went on to work as an offensive coordinator for several teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins, and Atlanta Falcons. In 2012, Mularkey was named the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. During his two seasons with the Jaguars, he oversaw significant improvements in the team's offense, but the team failed to achieve a winning record under his leadership.
