Mike Tice Autographs
Mike Tice is a former American football player and coach who has made a significant impact in the National Football League (NFL) industry. He was born on February 2, 1959, in Bayshore, New York, and grew up in Central Islip, where he attended Central Islip High School. Tice played college football at the University of Maryland, where he was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) selection as a tight end.
In 1981, Tice was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the NFL Draft. He played for the Seahawks for six seasons before being traded to the Washington Redskins in 1989. Tice played two seasons for the Redskins before being released in 1991. He then played briefly for the Minnesota Vikings and the Seattle Seahawks for the remainder of his career, retiring in 1995. Tice finished his NFL career with 107 receptions for 894 yards and 11 touchdowns, and he was known for being a dependable blocking tight end.
After retiring as a player, Tice was hired as an assistant coach for the Vikings in 1996, where he worked with the offensive line and tight ends. He later became the team's offensive coordinator in 2002 and was then named the head coach in 2001. Tice led the Vikings to a playoff berth in 2004 and was named the NFL Coach of the Year by the Sporting News. Tice left the Vikings in 2005 and worked as an assistant coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears, and Oakland Raiders before retiring from coaching in 2017.
