Hardesty also made significant contributions as a receiver out of the backfield, catching 25 passes for 184 yards and one touchdown. Unfortunately, Hardesty's career was hampered by injuries, and he was ultimately released by the Browns in 2013.

Following his release from the Browns, Hardesty was signed by the San Francisco 49ers but did not make the final roster. He then joined the Tennessee Titans in 2014, where he played his final season of professional football. Despite injuries limiting his playing time in Tennessee, Hardesty was able to finish his professional career with a total of 332 rushing yards and one touchdown.
