Sweat started his college football career at Mississippi State University, where he played for the Bulldogs from 2017 to 2018. During his time at Mississippi State, Sweat's performance was simply outstanding. He recorded 101 tackles, 22.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles, an impressive display that earned him a selection to the SEC All-Conference Second Team in 2017 and the First Team in 2018. Sweat's career at Mississippi State was so impressive that he was considered one of the best players in his position in college football. In 2019, his name was called as the 26th overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Washington Football Team.
