Adderley started his college football career with the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens in 2015 playing as a cornerback. In his sophomore season, he made 48 tackles, five interceptions, and three pass breakups, which earned him a spot on the All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) First Team. Adderley continued to shine in his junior season, where he registered a career-high 78 tackles, seven pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. As a senior, he was named a team captain and led the team with four interceptions and seven pass breakups. After his senior year, Adderley was invited to several college all-star games and was projected to be a mid-round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was eventually picked by the Los Angeles Chargers in the second round with the 60th overall pick.

Since joining the Chargers, Adderley has been praised for his instincts, coverage skills, and physicality. He made his NFL debut in the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts, where he recorded his first career interception. In his rookie season, Adderley played in four games, recorded seven tackles, and one interception. He missed most of the season due to a hamstring injury but is expected to play a significant role in the Chargers' defense in the upcoming season.
