Oliver Luck is a former American football quarterback and the current commissioner of the XFL, an American football league. He was born on April 5, 1960, in Cleveland, Ohio. Luck attended St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland where he played football and baseball. After college, Luck was drafted in the second round of the 1982 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. He played for the Oilers for four seasons before being traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 1985. Luck played for the Colts until 1986 before his retirement from the NFL. During his time in the NFL, Luck threw for over 5,000 yards with 33 touchdowns and was known for his scrambling abilities.
After his playing career, Luck went on to work as an executive for various sports organizations including the NFL Europe League, the Houston Sports Authority, and the NCAA. From 2014-2019, he served as the executive director of the College Football Playoff. In 2019, Luck was named the commissioner of the XFL where he has overseen the league's reboot and resurgence after its initial iteration failed in 2001.
