Pete Metzelaars Autographs
Pete Metzelaars, born on November 15, 1960, is a former American football player and coach. He attended Sahuaro High School in Tucson, Arizona, where he played both football and basketball. After high school, he attended Wabash College in Indiana, where he played tight end for the Little Giants football team. During his college career, he set several records and was named an All-American.
Metzelaars began his professional football career in 1982 when he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round. He played for the Seahawks for four seasons and then went on to play for the Buffalo Bills, where he had the most success in his career. Metzelaars played for the Bills from 1987 to 1994, during which he helped the team make it to four consecutive Super Bowls from 1990 to 1993. He was known for his excellent blocking skills and his ability to catch passes in important situations. In his NFL career, he caught a total of 383 passes for 3,686 yards and 29 touchdowns.
After retiring from playing, Metzelaars began coaching in the NFL. He started as an offensive quality control coach for the Bills in 2002 and then was the tight ends coach for the Indianapolis Colts from 2004 to 2011. During his time with the Colts, he helped the team win Super Bowl XLI in 2007. Metzelaars then went on to coach for the Buffalo Bills again, serving as the team's tight ends coach from 2012 to 2015. He also spent time coaching for the San Diego Chargers and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Metzelaars retired from coaching in 2018 after a successful career spanning over 15 years.
