Ray Renfro Autographs
Ray Renfro was an American football wide receiver who played for the Cleveland Browns from 1952 to 1963. Renfro was born in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1929, and he attended the University of North Texas, where he played college football. After completing his college career, Renfro was drafted by the Browns in the second round of the 1952 NFL Draft.
Renfro played for the Browns for 12 seasons and was a key contributor to the team's success during the 1950s and early 1960s. Renfro's speed and athleticism made him a feared deep threat, and he was an effective punt returner as well. During his career with the Browns, Renfro played in five Pro Bowls, and he was a member of three NFL championship teams. When he retired after the 1963 season, Renfro had caught 281 passes for 4,452 yards and 50 touchdowns, and he had returned 118 punts for 1,285 yards and three touchdowns.
After his playing career, Renfro went into coaching, working as an assistant coach for several NFL teams. He was part of the coaching staff when the Dallas Cowboys won Super Bowl VI in 1972. Renfro was inducted into the Cleveland Browns Legends program in 2004, and he was honored by the University of North Texas in 2007 when the school established the Ray Renfro Endowed Football Scholarship Fund. Renfro passed away in 1997 at the age of 68, but his contributions to the game of football continue to be remembered and celebrated to this day.
