Ray Zellars Autographs
Ray Zellars (born on December 7, 1973) is a former NFL fullback who played for the New Orleans Saints from 1995-1997 and the Kansas City Chiefs from 1998-2000. Zellars was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended Hazelwood East High School where he was a standout football player. He went on to play for Southern Illinois University where he was a two-time All-American, and set the school record for rushing yards and touchdowns in a single season.
In 1995, Zellars was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the NFL draft. During his time with the Saints, he was primarily a blocking back for legendary running back Ricky Williams. In 1997, he had his best season, rushing for 237 yards and catching 22 passes for 188 yards. After his time with the Saints, he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs where he played for three seasons. He was primarily used as a blocker for running back Priest Holmes, and he also had some success as a receiver out of the backfield.
After his NFL career, Zellars became the head football coach at his alma mater, Hazelwood East High School. He coached there for five years before stepping down to focus on his family and business interests. Zellars is remembered for his tough, physical style of play, and his ability to do the dirty work that is necessary for any successful football team. He is also admired for giving back to his community through coaching, mentoring, and philanthropy.
