Raymond Chester Autographs
Raymond Chester is a former American football tight end who played in the National Football League (NFL) from 1970 to 1981. He was born on June 28, 1948, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and attended the Morgan State University in Baltimore where he became a standout football player.
In 1970, Chester was drafted by the Oakland Raiders as their first-round pick, eleventh overall. He quickly established himself as one of the best tight ends in the league, and his ability to catch passes and block effectively made him a valuable asset to the Raiders' offense. He helped the team win Super Bowl XI in 1977, and was named to the Pro Bowl four times during his career.
After his time with the Raiders, Chester played for the Baltimore Colts (1978-1981) and the Seattle Seahawks (1981). He retired from the NFL in 1982 after playing for twelve seasons. During his career, he recorded 364 receptions for 5,013 yards and 48 touchdowns. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Chester was inducted into the Morgan State University Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Black College Football Hall of Fame in 2020.
