Raymond Clayborn Autographs
Raymond Clayborn is a former American football cornerback who played for the New England Patriots and the Cleveland Browns. Born on January 2, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas, Clayborn had a successful college career at the University of Texas where he was a three-time All-Southwest Conference selection. In 1977, the New England Patriots selected him in the first round of the NFL draft, and he played for the team for 13 years.
During his time with the New England Patriots, Raymond Clayborn became one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He was named to the Pro Bowl team three times in 1983, 1985, and 1986. Clayborn was also a two-time All-Pro selection in 1983 and 1985. He set a record for the most interceptions in a season with ten in 1983, which still stands today. Over his career with the Patriots, Clayborn recorded 36 interceptions and recovered eight fumbles.
Raymond Clayborn ended his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns in 1991. He played for the team for two seasons and recorded two interceptions. After retiring from football, Clayborn returned to his alma mater, the University of Texas, where he worked as a strength and conditioning coach for the football program. He was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2017. Raymond Clayborn is remembered as one of the most dominant cornerbacks in New England Patriots history and played an instrumental role in the team's success in the 1980s.
