Grange attended the University of Illinois, where he quickly gained national attention for his incredible talent as a running back. In fact, his debut game in 1924 against the University of Nebraska drew an astounding 67,000 spectators, helping cement his reputation as a football superstar. Over the course of his college career, Grange led the Fighting Illini to several impressive victories, including a win over the University of Pennsylvania that earned him the moniker "The Galloping Ghost."

After graduating from college, Grange went on to pursue a professional career in football. He signed with the Chicago Bears, then known as the Decatur Staleys, in 1925 and played for the team for the next seven seasons. During this time, he continued to dazzle fans and opponents alike with his incredible speed and agility, earning him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963.
