Richard Todd Autographs

Richard ToddRichard Todd, born on November 19, 1953, in Birmingham, Alabama, was a standout quarterback for the University of Alabama from 1973 to 1975. Under legendary coach Bear Bryant, Todd led the Crimson Tide to three consecutive Southeastern Conference titles and never lost a conference game as a starter. He was named First Team All-SEC in 1975 and earned MVP honors in both the 1975 Sugar Bowl and the 1976 Senior Bowl.
Todd was selected sixth overall by the New York Jets in the 1976 NFL Draft, tasked with the challenging role of replacing Joe Namath. He spent eight seasons with the Jets, gradually improving his performance. Todd's best year came in 1981 when he led the Jets to their first winning record since 1969 and was voted team MVP. In 1982, he guided the Jets to the AFC Championship Game, though they fell short against the Miami Dolphins.
After his tenure with the Jets, Todd played two seasons for the New Orleans Saints before retiring in 1985. Over his 11-year NFL career, Todd completed 1,610 passes for 20,610 yards and 124 touchdowns. Despite facing criticism and struggles with interceptions early in his career, Todd finished as a respected quarterback who helped revitalize the Jets franchise in the early 1980s.
