After his successful college career, Gallery entered the NFL Draft in 2004, where he was selected second overall by the Oakland Raiders. Gallery spent the first seven seasons of his professional career with the Raiders, where he played as an offensive guard and tackle. He also played one season for the Seattle Seahawks in 2011 before retiring from football in 2012. During his NFL career, Gallery played in 104 games, starting in 103 of them. He was also named to the NFL All-Rookie Team in 2004 and the All-Decade Team in 2010.

Off the field, Gallery has been involved in several philanthropic initiatives, including the Robert Gallery Foundation, which aims to improve the lives of at-risk youth in Iowa. He has also been a supporter of the University of Iowa Children's Hospital and helped raise more than $50,000 for the facility in 2008. Gallery's success on the football field and his commitment to giving back to the community has made him a well-respected figure in American football.
