After retiring from playing, Craig went on to have a successful career as a coach and manager. He served as the pitching coach for several MLB teams, including the San Diego Padres, Detroit Tigers, and Texas Rangers. He also managed the San Francisco Giants from 1985 to 1988 and the expansion Florida Marlins in their inaugural season in 1993.
