Roman Gabriel is a former American football quarterback who achieved great success in his career. Born on August 5, 1940, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Gabriel grew up in difficult circumstances, but he was determined to succeed in football. In high school, he became a standout athlete, earning All-State honors in football, basketball, and baseball. Gabriel's college football career was impressive, as he led the Wolfpack to several victories and was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year in 1961. After college, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the 1962 NFL Draft. He quickly established himself as one of the league's top quarterbacks, throwing for over 2,400 yards and 25 touchdowns in his rookie year. He went on to play for the Rams for 11 seasons and was named to the Pro Bowl four times.
