Dayne played college football at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1999.
Dayne was selected in the first round of the 2000 NFL draft by the New York Giants as the 11th overall pick. In his rookie season, he rushed for 770 yards and 5 touchdowns, helping the Giants secure a spot in Super Bowl XXXV. However, the team lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
