Ron Springs Autographs
Ron Springs was an all-time great American Football player, born in Williamsburg, Virginia, on November 4, 1956. He attended Williamsburg-James City County High School and went on to play for The Ohio State University. He led his team in rushing yards with 1,166 on 207 carries in 1976, which earned him All-Big Ten first-team honors. In his senior year, he rushed for 1,166 yards and nine touchdowns on 207 carries, and he became the first Buckeye to have back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.
In 1979, Ron was drafted in the fifth round by the Dallas Cowboys, where he played for the next five seasons. Throughout his professional career, he set personal records and helped lead the Cowboys to two Super Bowls in 1980 and 1981. Ron became a vital part of the team, known for his excellent blocking and pass-catching abilities, playing in 76 games throughout his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys. He played his final season in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1986.
After retiring, Ron went into coaching and broadcasting, but in 1991, he was diagnosed with diabetes. In 2007, he slipped into a coma and was in a vegetative state for the next four years until his passing in 2011. Ron's legacy in American Football is vast and includes his successful college and NFL career, but it is his courage and resilience in the face of adversity that he will always be remembered for.
