Russ Francis Autographs
Russ Francis is a former American football player who played for the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and the Los Angeles Raiders. He was born on June 1, 1953, in Seattle, Washington. Francis played College football at the University of Oregon, where he earned All-American honors in 1974.
Francis began his NFL career in 1975 when he was drafted by the New England Patriots in the first round. He quickly became a standout on the team and played for the Patriots for six seasons. During his time with the franchise, Francis was named to three Pro Bowls and was named an All-Pro twice. He became the first tight end in NFL history to catch more than 50 passes in a single season, a record that stood for nine years.
After his tenure with the Patriots, Francis went on to play for the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Raiders. He played for the 49ers from 1982 to 1987, and he played for the Raiders from 1987 to 1988. During this time, Francis won two Super Bowl titles, one with each team. Francis retired from the NFL in 1988, having played in 191 games and catching 393 passes for over 5,300 yards and 40 touchdowns. He also rushed for 266 yards and four touchdowns. Francis' outstanding athletic career has earned him a spot in the College Football Hall of Fame.
