Ryan Moats Autographs
Ryan Moats is a former professional American football running back who was born on December 5, 1982, in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in a family that was deeply invested in sports, particularly football. As a result, Moats was exposed to the sport from a young age, and he began playing organized football in high school. During his high school career, he was a standout player, and he caught the attention of college recruiters.
After high school, Moats attended Louisiana Tech University, where he continued his football career as a running back. He quickly established himself as one of the top players on the team, and he was named the WAC Freshman of the Year in 2002. Moats went on to have a successful college career, rushing for over 3,000 yards and 27 touchdowns. In 2005, he was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round of the NFL Draft, and he spent four seasons in the league, playing for both the Eagles and the Houston Texans. Over the course of his NFL career, Moats rushed for 684 yards and scored five touchdowns.
Despite his accomplishments on the field, Moats is perhaps best known for an incident that occurred during the 2009 season while he was playing for the Texans. Moats' mother-in-law was dying in a hospital, and he was rushing to be with his family when he was pulled over by police officers for running a red light. Despite his desperate pleas to be allowed to go to the hospital, the officers detained him, and his mother-in-law passed away before he was able to reach her. The incident drew national attention and sparked a conversation about the treatment of black men by law enforcement.
