He was born on February 24, 1979, in Torrance, California, and attended UCLA, where he played college football. After going undrafted in the 2002 NFL Draft, Nece signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. He spent his entire six-year career with the Buccaneers, where he became a key member of the special teams unit. He also played as a backup linebacker and started eight games in his career. In 2003, he won the Super Bowl with the Buccaneers, where he contributed on special teams and made a crucial fourth-quarter tackle that helped secure the victory.
After retiring from football, Nece pursued a career in broadcasting and media. He worked as a sports analyst for NFL Network and ESPN and hosted a weekly radio show on SiriusXM. He co-founded the Ryan Nece Foundation, which supports youth education and sports programs in underprivileged communities.
