Sam Aiken Autographs
Sam Aiken is a former American football wide receiver who had a successful career in the National Football League (NFL). Aiken was born on October 14, 1980, in Florence, South Carolina, and attended Eastern Randolph High School in Ramseur, North Carolina. In college, Aiken played for the Elon Phoenix football team and was a standout receiver, catching 134 passes for 2,536 yards and 28 touchdowns. In 2003, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills and spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the team.
During his time with the Bills, Aiken gradually grew in importance within the team. He was primarily used on special teams to begin with, but gradually moved up the depth chart as a wide receiver. Over the four seasons he played for Buffalo, Aiken caught 55 passes for 826 yards and four touchdowns. In 2007, he signed with the New England Patriots and spent another three seasons in the NFL, primarily as a special teams player. In 2010, Aiken signed with the Cleveland Browns, but a knee injury sustained during training camp forced him to retire from football.
Although he was never a star player in the NFL, Aiken was respected by his coaches and teammates for his work ethic and special teams ability. His perseverance and determination are reflected in the fact that he managed to stick around in the league for seven seasons, despite not being a high draft pick or a big-name player. Today, Aiken is retired from football but still involved with the sport, working as a coach and trainer for young athletes in his home state of North Carolina.
