Sam Huff

Sam Huff was born in 1934 in West Virginia and went on to become one of the greatest American football players of all time. He started his football career at West Virginia University, where he played as a middle linebacker for the Mountaineers. In 1956, Huff was drafted by the New York Giants, where he spent the majority of his NFL career. He was known for his exceptional strength, speed, and talent for reading the opponent's offense, which made him a valuable asset to the Giants. Throughout his 13 seasons in the NFL, Huff was named to the Pro Bowl five times and won a title with the Giants in 1956. More about Sam Huff

Huff is also remembered for his appearance in the 1958 NFL Championship Game, known as the "Greatest Game Ever Played." In the game, which went into sudden-death overtime, Huff's Giants lost to the Baltimore Colts 23-17, but the game catapulted football into the national spotlight and helped make it the popular sport it is today. Huff's performance in the game earned him recognition as one of the standout players.

After his playing career, Huff became a broadcaster and commentator for NFL games. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1982 and is considered one of the greatest middle linebackers in NFL history. Huff is also a member of the New York Giants' Ring of Honor and the West Virginia University Sports Hall of Fame.
