Frost continued his football career at the University of Nebraska, where he played quarterback from 1995 to 1997. He set numerous records during his time at Nebraska, including the school record for total offense and became the first quarterback in school history to run for 1,000 yards in a season. In his junior year, he led the Cornhuskers to an undefeated season and a national championship. Frost's football career continued after college when he was drafted by the New York Jets in the third round of the 1998 NFL draft.

After his playing career, Frost began coaching football. In 2015, he returned to his alma mater, the University of Nebraska, as an assistant coach. In 2017, Frost was named the head coach at the University of Central Florida. In his second season at UCF, he led the team to an undefeated season and an American Athletic Conference championship.
