Scott Fujita is a former American football player who was born on April 28, 1979, in Ventura, California. Fujita’s journey in American football started when he played college football at the University of California in Berkeley. Fujita was a member of the California Golden Bears football team from 1996 to 2001. In his college career, Fujita recorded 175 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and 28 tackles for loss. In the NFL, Fujita played as a linebacker for eleven seasons, starting his professional football career with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2002. He then played for the Dallas Cowboys from 2005 to 2006 before joining the New Orleans Saints in 2006. In 2009, he won Super Bowl XLIV with the New Orleans Saints. He finished his professional football career with the Cleveland Browns from 2010 to 2012. During his football career, Fujita played in 143 games, recorded 767 tackles, 23.5 sacks, and 11 forced fumbles.

Off the field, Fujita is known for his social activism and advocacy work. He has been vocal in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights and has been particularly active in supporting same-sex marriage initiatives. In 2013, he was honored with the Human Rights Campaign’s Upstander Award for his activism. After retiring from football, Fujita also became a writer and contributes to various publications, including Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, and The Guardian, where he shares his thoughts on human rights, social and environmental issues, and American football.
