Hunter’s tenure with the Packers saw him playing backup to the team’s Hall of Fame quarterback, Bart Starr. However, in 1974, Starr was injured, giving Hunter the opportunity to showcase his abilities as the team’s starting quarterback. He made good use of this opportunity, leading the Packers to some crucial wins and even earning the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award for his performance in a game against the San Diego Chargers.
