Simeon Rice is a former American football player who excelled as a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for over a decade. Rice was born on February 24, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, where he attended the prestigious Paradise Valley High School. During his senior year, Rice played both football and basketball, and he was highly regarded as an athlete with exceptional physical abilities.
After graduating from high school, Simeon Rice went on to attend the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he played college football for the Fighting Illini. During his junior and senior seasons, Rice emerged as one of the top pass-rushers in the country, recording a total of 32 sacks and 44 tackles for loss. In 1996, he was a consensus first-team All-American and was selected as the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. Upon completing his college career, Rice was regarded as one of the most dominant defensive players in the history of University of Illinois football.
In 1996, Simeon Rice was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals as the third overall pick in the NFL Draft. He quickly established himself as a premier defensive end in the league, earning numerous accolades and setting franchise records for sacks and forced fumbles. During his 12-year NFL career, Rice played for four different teams, including the Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, and Denver Broncos. He recorded a total of 122 sacks, 22 forced fumbles, and 6 interceptions, and was named to three Pro Bowl teams and one All-Pro team. Simeon Rice's success on the field earned him a reputation as one of the greatest pass-rushers in NFL history, and he was inducted into the Arizona Cardinals Ring of Honor in 2010.
