Solomon Thomas is an American football player who was born on December 20, 1995, in Coppell, Texas. He played college football at Stanford University, where he was a defensive lineman. During his three-year college football career, Thomas was known for his exceptional athleticism, strength, and speed. In 2017, he declared himself for the NFL draft and was selected third overall by the San Francisco 49ers.
During his rookie season in 2017, Thomas played in all 16 games, recording 41 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble. He continued to play for the 49ers over the next three seasons, although his statistics were not as impressive as his rookie year. In 2020, he was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he played nine games, making 18 tackles and one sack. Despite his limited playing time, Thomas is considered one of the top young defensive linemen in the NFL and has a bright future ahead of him.
Off the field, Thomas is also known for his humanitarian efforts. He founded the Defensive Line Foundation in 2018, which focuses on mental health advocacy and support for suicide prevention. Thomas's sister committed suicide in 2018, which prompted him to become an advocate for mental health issues. He has been open about his own struggles with anxiety and depression and hopes to use his platform to help others who are struggling with similar issues.
