Steve Atwater is a former American football player who played for the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets during his 11-year NFL career. Born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1966, Atwater attended the University of Arkansas where he played college football as a free safety. He was selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 1989 NFL Draft, and quickly became known for his hard-hitting style of play and exceptional skills as a defender. More about Steve Atwater

Atwater's impressive NFL career spanned from 1989 to 1999, during which he earned numerous accolades and awards. He was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times, the All-Pro team twice, and was named to the NFL's 1990s All-Decade Team. He helped lead the Broncos to two Super Bowl victories, including back-to-back championships in 1997 and 1998. Throughout his career, Atwater became known for his physicality on the field, often delivering devastating hits to opposing players while still remaining a formidable force in pass coverage.
