Steve Bartkowski Autographs
Steve Bartkowski was a talented American football quarterback who played in both the National Football League (NFL) and the United States Football League (USFL). He was born on November 12, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in Santa Clara, California. Bartkowski grew up playing football and was a three-time All-American at the University of California, Berkley.
Bartkowski was selected as the number one overall draft pick in the 1975 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He played for the Falcons from 1975 to 1985, leading the team to their first playoff appearance in 1978. During his career with the Falcons, Bartkowski set numerous team records, including career passing yards and career touchdown passes. He was known for his strong arm and his ability to throw deep passes with accuracy. In 1983, Bartkowski was named the NFC Player of the Year after leading the team to a 7-1 record in the strike-shortened season.
After leaving the Falcons, Bartkowski played for the Washington Redskins and later the Los Angeles Rams before retiring in 1986. He finished his NFL career with over 24,000 passing yards and 156 touchdowns. He went on to play briefly in the USFL and later worked as a television analyst for college and NFL games. In recognition of his contributions to the Atlanta Falcons, Bartkowski was inducted into the team's Ring of Honor in 2004.
