Breaston played primarily as a wide receiver and punt returner during his NFL career. He played for the Arizona Cardinals from 2007 to 2010, where he quickly made a name for himself as a dynamic return specialist. During his rookie season, he broke the team record for punt return yards in a season and was named to the NFL All-Rookie team. Breaston recorded his best season in 2008, where he had 77 receptions for 1,006 yards and three touchdowns, earning him the team's Most Valuable Player award.

In 2011, Breaston signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played for two seasons before signing with the Cleveland Browns in 2013, but he was released before the start of the season. He finished his NFL career with 255 receptions, 3,387 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns, along with 4,026 return yards and two return touchdowns. After retiring from football, Breaston co-founded a software company called KiDz Holdings, which focuses on creating educational mobile games for children.
