Stoney Case was a promising American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) during the late 90s and early 2000s. Case was born on February 4, 1972, in Odessa, Texas, and attended Permian High School, the alma mater of notable NFL players like Roy Williams and Cedric Benson. After high school, Case went on to play college football at the University of New Mexico, where he appeared in a total of 32 games and completed 505 passes for 6,639 yards and 37 touchdowns.
In 1995, Case was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round of the NFL Draft. He spent two seasons in Arizona, appearing in seven games and throwing for 482 yards and two touchdowns. In 1997, Case was traded to the Indianapolis Colts but only played in one game that year. His breakout year came in 1998 when he joined the Baltimore Ravens and played in 11 games, throwing for 1,946 yards and 14 touchdowns. However, Case’s career was plagued by injuries, and he was unable to secure a starting position on any team after his stint with the Ravens.
Following his departure from the NFL, Stoney Case returned to New Mexico and coached high school football. He also started a career in the oil and gas industry as a landman. Despite his limited success in the NFL, Stoney Case remains a beloved figure in football history, particularly among fans of the Ravens, for his contributions to their Super Bowl-winning team in 2000.
