Tamba Hali Autograph

Tamba Hali is a former Liberian-American football defensive end who played for 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Born in Liberia in 1983, Hali and his family fled their home country during the Liberian Civil War and eventually settled in the United States. He attended college at Penn State University, where he played football for four years and dominated as a defensive end. Hali immediately made an impact on the Chiefs' defensive line, starting in 12 of his rookie season's 16 games and recording 8.5 sacks. Over the course of his career, he became known as one of the league's most consistent pass-rushers, earning Pro Bowl honors five times and being named second-team All-Pro twice. Hali was a key component of the Chiefs' dominant defense in the early 2010s, which led the team to four playoff appearances in five years. He retired in 2018 as the franchise record-holder in sacks with 89.5.

Beyond his on-field success, Hali has also been recognized for his philanthropy work both in the United States and in his homeland of Liberia. In 2013, he founded the Tamba Hali Foundation to provide education, health, and enrichment opportunities for youth in both countries. Hali has also been an advocate for refugees and a vocal critic of conflicts in Africa, using his platform as a professional athlete to raise awareness of humanitarian issues.
