He was drafted as the 16th overall pick in the first round by the Minnesota Vikings in 1979. He played for the Vikings for eight seasons from 1979 to 1986. Brown is the all-time leading rusher for the Vikings with 6,336 yards and number two on the team’s list for most touchdowns in a career with 52 touchdowns. Also, he holds the record for the most rushing attempts by the franchise with 1,627.

Unfortunately, Brown’s career would end in 1987 due to an ankle injury he suffered during a preseason game. Despite his career being cut short, his contributions to the game paved the way for future players, and his achievements live on today with his induction into the Vikings’ Ring of Honor.
