Timmy Smith Autographs
Timmy Smith is a former American football player who is best known for his performance in Super Bowl XXII. Born on May 12, 1964, in Hobson City, Alabama, Smith was the youngest of thirteen children. He attended high school in Cowpens, South Carolina, where he played football for the school team. He went on to play college football at the University of Texas, where he helped to lead the Longhorns to a win over the University of Alabama in the Cotton Bowl Classic in 1982.
Smith's professional career began when he was selected by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the 1987 NFL Draft. He struggled in his rookie season, playing in just eight games and rushing for only 126 yards. However, he had a breakout performance in Super Bowl XXII, rushing for a record-breaking 204 yards and two touchdowns as the Redskins defeated the Denver Broncos. Smith's performance was a major factor in the Redskins winning the game and he was named the Super Bowl MVP.
Unfortunately, Smith's success was short-lived. He missed most of the 1988 season due to injury and was released by the Redskins in 1989 after playing in just five games. He had brief stints with the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego Chargers, but was out of the NFL by the end of the 1990 season. Smith's professional football career may have been short, but his incredible performance in Super Bowl XXII will always be remembered as one of the greatest performances in the history of the game.
