Tom Waddle is a former American football wide receiver who is best known for his time playing for the Chicago Bears in the NFL. He was born on February 20, 1967, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus, Ohio, where he was a standout quarterback in high school football. He went on to play college football at Boston College, where he was a three-year starter and played in 34 games. He finished his college career with 236 receptions for 3,255 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Waddle was signed by the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 1989 and quickly made a name for himself as a fearless and reliable receiver. He played for the Bears for six seasons and was known for his hard work ethic and ability to make clutch receptions. He was a key player on the Bears team that won Super Bowl XX in 1985, contributing a key reception in the game-winning drive. Waddle retired from the NFL in 1996 after stints with the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers.
